LoRaSi joins the EPRI Open Power AI Consortium
Membership of a global initiative bringing together 250+ organisations advancing AI for the electric power sector.
LoRaSi has joined the EPRI Open Power AI (OPAI) Consortium.
OPAI is a global initiative founded by the Electric Power Research Institute to drive the development and deployment of AI in the electric power sector. It brings together more than 250 organisations — over 120 of them utilities and energy companies, alongside technology providers, national laboratories and academia — all working on how electricity is made, moved and used.
For us the alignment is direct. SAMSTEO, our integrated asset intelligence platform combining Earth Observation, IoT and weather analytics for transmission infrastructure, is exactly the kind of AI-driven, real-world application OPAI exists to accelerate.
Through the consortium we are looking to:
- collaborate with leading utilities and technology partners globally;
- draw on shared datasets, open-source AI models and validation frameworks;
- contribute to industry-prioritised AI use cases in grid reliability and asset management.
There is a second reason this matters to us. Open models and shared datasets are how the power sector avoids vendor lock-in and keeps sensitive operational data inside infrastructure the utility controls, rather than routing it through proprietary APIs. That is a position we hold regardless of what it means for our own product surface.
