Earth Observation
Satellite imagery tracks structural change, vegetation encroachment and land movement across the whole corridor — at a scale no inspection crew can cover.
Transmission grid intelligence
SAMSTEO fuses satellite Earth Observation, LoRaWAN sensor networks and weather analytics into a single predictive picture of your transmission network — so structural failures are caught before they cascade into outages.
In active pilot deployment with CGES, the Montenegrin transmission system operator.

The problem
High-voltage infrastructure runs through terrain nobody can inspect often enough. When something moves, sags, corrodes or ignites, operators usually find out from the outage — not from the asset.
June 2024
The regional blackout that paralysed the Balkans. Nobody could say how or where it started until it was already over.
~500,000 ha
Burned across Europe in 2026, with damage estimated at up to €19 billion — repeatedly traced back to ageing overhead electrical infrastructure.
75%
Of all land burned in Greece in 2026 was linked to fires involving the ageing electricity network.
Manual inspection cannot scale to thousands of towers across the Dinaric Alps. Continuous monitoring can.
How SAMSTEO works
Each stream is blind on its own. Fused, they tell you which tower is at risk, why, and how soon.
Satellite imagery tracks structural change, vegetation encroachment and land movement across the whole corridor — at a scale no inspection crew can cover.
LoRaWAN sensors clip onto existing towers and report tilt, vibration, EMF and structural stress in real time — including in terrain with no cellular coverage.
Forecast and observed weather turn a static reading into a risk trajectory: what this asset will be subjected to over the next hours and days.
The platform
SAMSTEO is not a replacement for the systems a utility already runs. It makes the infrastructure they already own observable.
Every monitored tower carries a continuously updated model of its own condition, not a annual snapshot from a clipboard.
Machine learning flags readings that depart from an asset’s own established baseline, so the alert reflects that tower rather than a global threshold.
A LoRaWAN communication layer that keeps reporting from remote mountain corridors, and keeps working when cellular networks fail.
Sensors mount onto existing towers. No structural modification, no outage window, no rip-and-replace programme.
Move the operating question from “what happened?” to “what is about to happen?” — with enough lead time to act on the answer.

We are onboarding pilot operators for the next SAMSTEO deployment window. A pilot starts with a single line section — not a procurement programme.
